Resumen
This article analyzes the role played by the school curriculum and the challenges faced in designing and implementing it in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. We describe the experiences of some curriculum actors and argue there is a need to promote disruptive innovation in education and in the curriculum, especially in Mexico and Latin America. Specialized literature and reports by international organizations serve to open up a debate on the use of ICT, online education, and other media and communications resources as cultural artifacts that may or may not gain meaning based on a specific sociocultural context and practices. The lack of social justice and inclusion in education is discussed, as is the emergence of new subjectivities and curricular alternatives.

Resumen
Given the exceptional circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and the problems faced in conducting mass student examinations, this article explores alternatives to an in-person exam to select candidates hoping to gain admission to higher education institutions, based on available information about students and their schools. Census-based information on entrance evaluations for six annual cohorts is used to obtain a predictive model that incorporates candidates’ average grades and the historical performance of their schools of origin, measured through EXANI II. The results allow us to identify a model able to correlate to .69 the estimated and actual scores; additional scenarios were proposed with greater levels of prediction (r = .86). A discussion is offered on the implications of using high school grades, in light of their power to predict academic performance in higher education.

Resumen
The objective of this study is to gain insight into the legal measures taken to cater for disabled students in compulsory education in the autonomous communities of Spain during the last trimester of the 2019-2020 school year. A comparative methodology was employed, with an analysis based on six dimensions determined a priori: adaptations for curriculum access, adaptation of curricula, Universal Design for Learning, project-based learning, teacher support, and family support. The results indicate disparity between the autonomous communities of Spain, and that not all UNESCO strategies to address barriers and offer inclusive responses during the school closures caused by the COVID-19 crisis were taken into account.

Resumen
The use of video in distance education contexts and in virtual training is essential. This study presents the results of an experience with 114 university professors from two universities in the Dominican Republic who carried out training activities on the pedagogical bases of the Polimedia systems. The degree of acceptance of the Polimedia system was measured through an adaptation of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) developed by Davis in 1989, and the significance of different sociodemographic variables in the model was analyzed. The results demonstrate the high degree of teacher acceptance of the Polimedia system and its relationship with variables such as experience with ICT, as well as the robustness of the TAM. This strengthens the need to establish training plans that focus less on technological aspects and more on the pedagogical dimension.

Resumen
This research seeks to describe and understand how an intervention based on cooperative learning and the use of mobile phones in early childhood and elementary classrooms promotes harmonious relations in schools within a context of socioeconomic vulnerability and cultural diversity. A case study was conducted in a Brazilian school (on the Bolivian border), using different qualitative techniques to collect information (participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and a discussion group). The results point to a reduction in disruptive behavior, academic disengagement, and exclusion, attributed primarily to a combination of cooperative factors enhanced by the use of mobile telephones (positive interdependence, a sense of belonging, heterogeneous grouping, individual responsibility, stimulating interaction, group identity, and teamwork skills). In this case, the use of mobile phones in education, coupled with a cooperative methodology, improved school life in the group studied.

Resumen
The situation brought about by COVID-19 has transformed the way in which schools operate and the goals they have historically served. The objective of this research is to describe COVID-19 conditions that have an impact on the way contact in education is reflected upon and fostered, from the perspective of elementary school principals. Qualitative content analysis was conducted on in-depth interviews with principals from eight elementary schools in urban and rural areas in three regions of Chile. The results show that concern for content learning has given way to concern for students’ socio-emotional well-being, and that in a COVID-19 context schools work differently depending on the area, with rural schools drawing on and strengthening their collaborative relationship with the community, while urban schools have focused on efficient use of digital technology.

Resumen
This paper presents a differential study on the way education was delivered within families during the COVID-19 lockdown (spring 2020) in the Valencian Community (Spain). Composite indicators based on responses to a survey for families were used to describe their difficulties (identified as “gaps”) in home-schooling. We also considered traditional indicators of family socioeconomic and cultural level. Taking into account the characteristics of the distributions, we analyzed the results using nonparametric tests (chi-square, Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H). Our findings advocate more work to further identify and define valid composite indicators to describe the contexts in which families operate as an educational setting, in order to use them as covariate variables for family socioeconomic and cultural level in research on factors associated with performance.
