Mathematics leads students to perceive it as complicated, resulting in memorisation without understanding and a gradual forgetting due to lack of analysis. The objective was to analyse the relationship of a didactic guide of the heuristic method in the teaching-learning of mathematics. The pre-experimental experimental design was applied with pre-test and post-test in a single group. An exploratory-descriptive-correlational level, a mixed approach (qualitative-quantitative) and bibliographic-documentary, field and experimental modalities were adopted. Non-probabilistic purposive sampling was used with nine students and one teacher from the ninth grade of a rural public educational unit. A semi-structured interview, input-output tests and observations with checklists were used. Correlation coefficient, normality test and Wilcoxon non-parametric test for related samples were used for statistical analysis. Means increased significantly from 2.48/10 (pre-test) to 7.73/10 (post-test), with an increase of more than 5 points. The checklist showed greater acceptance of the Mason-Burton-Stacey model. The analysis revealed a strong correlation between the variables (r=0.75). The normality test did not show a normal distribution and the Wilcoxon non-parametric test rejected the null hypothesis (p=.008). The didactic guide significantly improved academic performance by fostering understanding and interest in mathematics.

Female labor force participation in the context of economic crises is a critical issue in Ecuador. The impact of the 2000 dollarization, the 2008 financial crisis (the Great Recession), and the COVID-19 pandemic on female labor participation has been analyzed. The research question focuses on how economic crises have affected women’s ability to integrate and remain in the labor force, considering factors such as fertility, education, and unemployment. A panel data econometric model is employed to examine variables like fertility rate, unemployment, and secondary school enrollment between 1990 and 2022. The results indicate that dollarization had the most significant negative impact, followed by the pandemic, while the 2008 crisis was less substantial. The fertility rate showed that a one percentage point increase led to a 2.24% decrease in female labor participation, limiting women’s employment opportunities. On the other hand, female unemployment indicated that a one percentage point increase reduced female labor participation by 0.14%. However, in Ecuador, secondary school enrollment rates were not significant in relation to female labor participation. It is concluded that policies need to be implemented to remove structural barriers and improve women’s economic resilience during times of crisis.

Canva is a digital tool that enables the creation of infographics, presentations, and other materials that help visualize geographic concepts in an attractive way. This article aims to propose digital didactic strategies on the Canva platform for teaching about the regions of Ecuador in the 5th year of Ecuadorian Basic General Education. The research has a mixed approach and a descriptive scope. A survey was applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 20 teachers from six educational institutions in the city of Ibarra to diagnose the use of the Canva tool. Based on this diagnosis, strategies were designed considering the findings and the subject contents. The results showed that 70% of the teachers use traditional classes as part of their pedagogical practice and expressed their willingness to use Canva in the teaching process, considering the benefits it offers for students' learning. As a result of the research, five strategies based on Canva were designed to promote meaningful and experiential learning, problem-based learning, and collaborative learning. This proposal was validated by the teachers, who considered the use of technological tools in teaching to be very important. In conclusion, the use of the Canva tool provides educators with the ability to customize teaching in a creative and motivating way, especially in the Social Studies subject.

Solar radiation directly influences the accumulation of dry matter, but it is also crucial to determine the optimum moment to take advantage of the nutritional content of pastures. In the case of fodder plantain (Plantago lanceolata L.), it is recommended to use it when it reaches 6 to 7 true leaves, establishing between 7 to 10 days, as opposed to white clover, which does so in 10 to 12 days. It is important to consider that mature plants tend to accumulate anti-nutritional compounds, such as tannins, which reduce their palatability and digestibility, in addition to contributing to greenhouse gas emissions. Climate change also reduces growing seasons, affecting pasture quality. This research aims to evaluate, through a documentary analysis, the accumulation of dry matter, protein and energy in forage plantain, considering climatic variables such as solar radiation, relative humidity and precipitation. The objective of this research is to evaluate, through a documentary analysis, the accumulation of dry matter, protein and energy in fodder plantain, considering climatic variables such as solar radiation, relative humidity and precipitation. A methodology based on literature review of scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, from databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect and Web of Science was used, focusing the search on producing countries. The results showed that Colombia presented the most balanced data (3750 kg/ha DM, 153.62 kWh/m² of radiation, 77 % relative humidity and 3240 mm of precipitation), concluding that fodder plantain is a resilient and efficient species in diverse climatic conditions, with a higher productive potential in areas with radiation of 150-200 kWh/m² and precipitation between 1000 and 3000 mm, conditions similar to those of Ecuador.

This research addressed the linguistic barriers faced by ecotourism providers in Cascales, Sucumbíos, with a focus on improving their English communication skills. The study evaluated whether specific workshops could improve these skills, thereby increasing tourist satisfaction and generating greater economic and educational benefits. A quasi-experimental methodology was used, which included pre- and post-workshop surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions with a sample of 14 local providers selected for their basic proficiency in English. The results revealed that, while some providers showed confidence in their English communication skills, there was considerable variability in their effectiveness. Specifically, 21% of participants reported difficulties in effectively communicating with tourists, and many-faced significant challenges related to intonation, pronunciation, and fluency. Although participants showed a high level of interest in the training workshops and were willing to seek feedback, their inconsistent focus on improving oral skills limited the overall impact of the training. The study concluded that existing training programs did not fully address the specific needs of the region's ecotourism sector. It is recommended that future research explore the longitudinal impacts of training interventions, consider cultural and contextual factors that influence language learning, and examine alternative methods for improving language skills. This would contribute to a more successful and sustainable ecotourism model in Cascales.

The scientific article addresses variations in the traditional dress of the kayambi people, an indigenous group located in the Andean region of Ecuador, with the objective of documenting and analyzing changes in their textile practices over time. The research is based on a combination of bibliographic compilation, field studies in different parishes of Cayambe and an exhaustive ethnographic registry. First, a literature review was conducted that included previous historical and anthropological studies on kayambi dress, providing a fundamental context for understanding the evolution of their traditional costumes. Next, an extensive field study was conducted in several parishes of Cayambe, where researchers observed and documented current practices in relation to traditional dress. The ethnographic analysis revealed notable differences between ancient and current dress. Traditional garments, once made primarily of alpaca wool fabrics and elaborate trimmings, have undergone significant changes. The influence of globalization and modernization has led to an incorporation of synthetic materials and a more simplified design. In addition, the use of traditional dress has decreased in everyday contexts and has been limited mostly to ceremonial events. The study concludes that although traditional kayambi dress has evolved due to socioeconomic and cultural factors, it remains a key element of cultural identity and resilience. The research provides a comprehensive view of how indigenous communities adapt their traditions in a changing world.

Introduction: The clinical round (RC) is a teaching strategy in the training of specialist physicians that integrates theory with practice but has diminished due to factors related to the instructor, workload, and time. Objective: The objective is to understand the meaning of the experiences of final-year pediatrics residents at the University of Antioquia during the RC as part of their professional training. Method: Phenomenological design; 13 pediatrics residents from the University of Antioquia. Semi-structured interviews recount their experiences during the RC. Three categories were analyzed: teaching aspects, round structure, and resident roles using Atlas.ti software. Discussion: The RC is a necessary space for clinical learning that combines theory with clinical practice; it is an environment for the development of the humanistic component and communication skills of the resident. Its functioning requires planning and structuring by the instructor with appropriate feedback. The RC facilitates different learning styles in the resident due to its experiential nature and confrontation with reality. Results: The RC is a source of significant experiences in the resident’s training, which depend on the type of interaction and feedback from the teacher. Barriers include workload and time allocated for academic discussion. Conclusions: The RC facilitates the comprehensive training of the resident through lived experiences. The relationship with the teacher is crucial for the motivation and feedback of the resident. The RC requires organization and planning for proper execution due to time limitations and workload.
