The meeting room of the rector's office of the Universidad Tecnológica de la Habana “José Antonio Echeverría” (CUJAE) does not have an automated or supervised control of its operation. To solve this problem, an extensible supervision and control system is designed based on a web application, as part of which control systems are designed for the room's lighting fixtures and the door lock. To elaborate these control systems, two ESPDuino boards with ESP8266 microcontrollers are used to control the room devices, which communicate with the server where the web application is hosted using the WebSocket protocol. The web application implements a direct control system for the room's lighting fixtures. The conventional lock present in the salon is modified to be used additionally as an electronic lock and an RFID identification system is designed to control the entrance to the salon. All changes to the lights or the room lock are stored in a database on the server. Thanks to the design of the monitoring and control system, it becomes easy to add new functions such as controlling the salon computer and monitoring all connected devices.

The number of pigs raised industrially in Yucatan exceeds the humanpopulation inhabiting the entire metropolitan area of Mérida. The ecologicalpressure this entails threatens the health and integrity of communities,as well as the conservation of the different ecosystems thatmake up the Peninsula. Besides, it systematizes a model of structuralabuse inside and outside the so-called “megafarms”, at the cost of theexploitation of millions of animals confined in the farms. As if thesewere not compelling reasons for the suspension of their operations, the megafarms continue to expand uncontrollably throughout thePeninsula. This text investigates the structural reasons why this processdeepens in the region, by locating the links that industrial farms, conventionally considered as local productive projects, maintain withtransnational capital circuits.

In recent years, the state of Yucatan, Mexico, has experienced economic growth driven by foreign direct investment, public investment, and its comparative advantages, such as security and natural resources. This has made it an attractive destination for investors and new residents, fueling a real estate boom, particularly in the supply of investment lots, whose attributes have triggered land speculation at the state level. This study aimed to understand the characteristics of these land lots for sale and the marketing strategies applied by real estate companies. To achieve this goal, different websites of companies and real estate intermediaries were reviewed from August 2022 to December 2023, what it allowed the construction of a sample of 228 investment lots developments in Yucatan, which was subsequently analyzed using statistical and qualitative methods.

This article exemplifies the design of a fruit detection and classification system using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN). The goal is to develop a system that automatically assesses fruit quality for farm inventory management. Specifically, a method for mango fruit classification was developed using image processing, ensuring both accuracy and efficiency. Resnet-18 was selected as the preliminary architecture for classification, while a cascade detector was used for detection, balancing execution speed and computational resource consumption. Detection and classification results were displayed through a graphical interface developed in MatLab App Designer, streamlining system interaction. The integration of convolutional neural networks and cascade detectors proffers a reliable solution for fruit classification and detection, with potential applications in agricultural quality control. INDEX TERMS: convolutional neural networks, MatLab, ResNet-18, cascade detector, regression with convolutional neural networks.

Vehicular networks stand out for their capacity and potential for traffic control, road safety, traffic efficiency, and V2V and V2I communications, but they also present many challenges. The characteristics of their heterogeneous infrastructure and their integration with other network technologies make them vulnerable and difficult to manage. This article proposes an analysis of vehicular network management by reviewing the existing literature that covers the different paradigms associated with the management method in this type of network. To achieve this objective, a general description of vehicular networks, commonly known as VANETs (Vehicle Ad-hoc Networks), is first proposed. The different challenges faced by vehicular networks are analyzed, and from these, solutions and different approaches for achieving efficient management in VANETs are identified. Finally, some security issues are mentioned due to their importance in this context and also because they are one of the most common problems in this technology. The results provide an overview of the different forms of vehicle network management, serving as a reference for professionals in their understanding of this topic. The work demonstrates that VANET management is becoming easier by applying advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Edge Computing.

In this work, a remote data availability component was developed and validated as part of a fixed system for industrial monitoring and diagnostics. This system is designed to be implemented in the national industry and support predictive maintenance strategies. The solution is based on a platform that utilizes the ESP32 microcontroller for data capture, storage, and transmission via Wi-Fi to a server. On this server, software written in Python manages information and user accounts, while a web server provides internet access to the software, and a DNS server masks the IP address and assigns a domain name. The developed system underwent extensive testing, including verification of remote management of sensed data, user account administration, and adaptation to different screen types. The tests confirmed that the system meets the requirements for functionality, accessibility, and adaptability. The results validate the effectiveness of the system for industrial applications, demonstrating its capability to handle data remotely and ensure proper storage and visualization.

This work proposes the development of an automatic transponder system for monitoring vessels with the use of the Automatic Identification System (AIS). The general composition of the design begins with the reception of the AIS protocol in the very high frequency (VHF) band. Once the signal is received, the demodulation and decoding of the data of interest for monitoring is carried out, which includes positioning and navigation parameters of each vessel. The transmission of information to the control centers is carried out in the 2.4 GHz band using a radio frequency (RF) modem from the manufacturer DIGI. Although existing technical means were used for the research and can be reproduced with similar devices if one wishes to vary or add new features. The validation tests were carried out under laboratory conditions and fundamental parameters in this type of communication are analyzed. The system obtained can be applied in means of transport or maritime signaling.

Automation to obtain certain gait parameters from inertial units is a fundamental need to facilitate the evaluation of physical performance. This project proposes the development of a biomechanical gait parameter measurement device that can be used as a medical test for elderly patients. It uses an ESP32 microcontroller and an ICM-20948 module. The ESP32 microcontroller collects data from the inertial sensor and transmits it via Bluetooth or stores it on an SD card for further analysis.

This work proposes a presumably complete syntactic structure of the noun phrase (NP) in Spanish, which includes the maximal projections nP (little n phrase), PossP (possessive phrase), NumP (numeral phrase), DP (determiner phrase), and QP (quantifier phrase). One of its main contributions is the recognition of an important boundary between PossP and NumP, since NP together with nP and PossP make up the domain in which nominal lexical heads express all their arguments and adjuncts, while NumP, DP and QP are maximal projections with functional heads and their respective adjuncts. These projections, but not NP, nP or PossP, constitute lawful agentive subjects. A second contribution consists of the recognition that Poss (head of PossP) is occupied exclusively by inalienable nouns (kinship terms and part nouns) while the rest of the nouns remain in n (head of nP). The empirical evidence comes from the position of the mayor and menor adjectives with respect to one type of head and the other (el hermano mayor de Juan vs. el mayor problema de México). The third main contribution consists of the recognition of the maximal projections FNum and FQ as constructs whose head positions are versatile in that both allow the occurrence of both quantifiers and cardinal numerals. Unlike previous works on NP in Spanish (e.g., Ticio 2003, 2010; Roca 2015), in this work, the discussion centrally considers the position occupied by different types of adjuncts with respect to nominal arguments. In this regard, a brief comparison is made between the syntax of adjectives in Spanish and the syntax of adjectives in English and in San Pablo Güilá Zapotec to show that in Spanish, this syntax is more complex than in the other two languages. Finally, the theoretical approach of the work is not ascribed to all the assumptions of minimalist syntax, although in general, it falls within what we could roughly call formal syntax.
