The main aim of this study is to find out how COVID-19 has affected communication between health staff and foreign patients in the public health centres of Gran Canaria – a destination for both tourists and irregular migrants. After contextualising the COVID-19 situation in Spain, we address the interpreting situation in the Canary Islands. We conducted a descriptive study carried out by means of questionnaires to the health staff of the two public hospitals of Gran Canaria, the results of wich shed some light on the existence of a communication problem due to the lack of a healthcare interpreting service. Most of the health staff reported communication problems, and fifty percent considered that during the pandemic the communication problems are even greater. However, an underlying problem transcends the pandemic context.

In the Mayan Area of the state of Quintana Roo, México, empirical, non-professional interpreters are often employed in order to establish a certain level of communication between pacients and healthcare providers, thus endangering the health of Maya-speaking pacients. The necessity of relying on profesional experts in cross-cultural communication in the medical sector has been underscored in different international studies (Pistillo, 2003, Angelelli, 2008, Hansen and Halpers, 2010, Mauleón, 2015. Bancroft, 2016, Hsieh, 2016).This article analyzes the social skills and the professional working modes required from cross-cultural medical interpreters, whose academic training is one of the objectives of the forthcoming Master Program in Intercultural Translation and Interpreting being developed by the University of Quintana Roo.

This paper aims to examine the potential of wine tourism in France, the main importer of Spanish wine and one of the most important countries of origin of tourism in Spain. For this purpose, the image of Spanish wine for French tourism has been analysed by means of a research of commercial and institutional Spanish websites. Not only the visibility and positioning have been considered, but also the access to content written in French and the degree of translation of the websites. Likewise, the strategies for promoting wine tourism and the adequacy of the translations have been observed. However, the results showed that a greater awareness of the importance of the translation of contents is still required in order to be able to take advantage of the potential of Spanish wine tourism in other countries and, more specifically, in France.

This article has the objective of contributing to the spreading of the beur literature from a traductological perspective. The basis is a theoretical realm where a particular linguistic variety, namely the Français Contemporain des Cités, is contextualized as well as its relationship with literature and translation disciplines. Then, a practical realm which object of study is the novel Boumkœur (1999) by Rachid Djaïdani. The novel is analyzed from a linguistical and stylistic point of view in order to translate the text into Spanish and the decisions taken in the translative process are also justified in a subsequent translation analysis. Both linguistic and translation tasks bring to light the linguistic hybridity present in the beur literature, as well as the difficulties that arouse and the strategies that are to be applied by the translator so as to solve such difficulties and so as to obtain an equivalent text in the target language.

This research aims to analyze the quality of interlingual live subtitling using automatic speech recognition and machine translation provided by YouTube. It is a qualitative descriptive study. In this case study, the instruments applied were an analysis sheet and a questionnaire. The corpus analyzed was an interview in English on mental health due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the population questioned was nine Peruvian users. It was possible to know the accuracy rate and the criteria to establish the quality of interlingual live subtitling by applying the NTR model. The study identified that machine translation generated significantly more errors than automatic speech recognition; these were mostly minor errors. Although the workflow used fell short of quality, participants understood more than half of the information presented.

Is it possible to translate a play such as George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, which deals with the English language and its relation to social class, into Spanish? Can cockney be translated? Can the performative nature of orality be translated without adapting the context of the play? By analysing the translatological problems of Pygmalion, especially those arising from the translation of the orality and the performativity of the play (i.e., the use of cockney and other deviations from the hegemonic use of language), the aim of this paper is to demonstrate that, in theater, the boundaries between translation and adaptation are not as clear as it might seem at first sight. The final objective is to examine the possibilities of adding stage directions as a theater translation strategy, halfway between amplification, compensation, adaptation and the translator's note.

The main objective of this research work is to demonstrate the viability of the use of pedagogical translation of micro-stories for the simultaneous learning of typologically related languages, in this case, Spanish, English and French, based on the hypothesis of interdependent linguistic development of Cummings (1983) and the principle of transfer of processing routines of Díaz-Sánchez and Joel Álvarez (2019); all this through a bibliographic selection chosen according to Bradford's law of dispersion of scientific literature. The research shows that due to the strong contrastive linguistic component of pedagogical translation and the textual characteristics of the micro-story, it is possible that the aforementioned hypothesis and principle are fulfilled.

Originating in 2000 by Juan Díaz Canales (script) and Juanjo Guarnido (drawing), the comic book saga Blacksad has established itself as one of the most notorious references in black-criminal graphic narrative, something evident in the multiple awards and gallons it has received, where the Eisners won in 2011, 2013 and 2015. Due to its impact on the media, the saga has been a mass phenomenon, a success that has justified its intermediality towards other media. This article constitutes a monographic study on the character: from its conception and development in comics, to its inspiration towards interactive media such as Blacksad: Under the skin (2019) and Blacksad: The role-playing game (2015), where emerged new interactions by the followers of the work.
