For more than a decade, the initial training of Secondary Education teachers has been governed and structured to develop teaching competences. This study focuses on examining perceptions about the importance and acquired proficiency of teaching competences before and after the Practicum, analysing 100 trainee teachers of the Geography and History specialization of the Masters’ Degree in Secondary Education Teaching at the University of Valladolid during four academic years. Using a quantitative design, an intermediate perception of competence proficiency can be observed before the Practicum. After finishing it, the assessment regarding the importance of teaching competences (teaching management, use of strategies and resources, promotion of a learning climate, communication, and organizational aspects) is high, but there are statistically significant contrasts with the perceived proficiency of those competences. Finally, a discussion regarding the perspectives of teaching training is presented.

Several researchers claim that any content can be taught through non-specific tales for teaching, even in the case of science content. Thus, the objective of this research is to design, apply and evaluate a teaching proposal of temporal concepts for Early Childhood Education through a non-specific tale for the teaching of Social Sciences. The necessary information is collected in evaluation tables that are analysed subsequently with the SPSS program. The proposal includes a brainstorming session to detect the students’ previous ideas and two questionnaires analysed with the ATLAS.ti program. The results show a high percentage of achievement of the objectives, finding somewhat significant differences between one classroom and another. This leads us to conclude that teaching temporal concepts can be carried out in Early Childhood Education through non-specific tales for this subject.

This article presents a didactic tool for diagnosis in heritage co-education for mediation between heritage educators and the public in museums and heritage centres and its detailed application in a case study. This tool aims to improve the practice of heritage education by applying the gender perspective in the implementation of activities promoted by museums aimed at educational centres and families with children. The objective is to contribute to generating an equitable and inclusive education for girls and boys with the purpose of helping to fight against gender-based violence. The results will help to progressively improve the narrative of the activities and relational education practice, as androcentric stereotypes are detected and made aware to modify them.

This article presents a theoretical analysis of the concept of historical imagination that explores how it has been understood in history education and other related fields of knowledge. For this purpose, we consider a series of factors (epistemological, disciplinary...) that interfere when studying this topic and we analyse a significant number of publications that have addressed this idea. The results suggest that historical imagination is identified or related to multiple meanings and functions, such as the making of inferences and the development of historical empathy; a situation that has been mainly influenced by works in historiography. All this allows us to conclude that, even though it has been an under-researched topic in recent years, historical imagination is a concept with its own entity that offers interesting prospects for the field of historical education.

The consumption of videos on the Internet by young children is increasing, and therefore, when they start school, a great part of their knowledge, behaviors, and attitudes, will be influenced by the contents they have consumed in social networks such as YouTube, which is considered a third educational agent in childhood, together with families and school. It is thus interesting to know what types of contents they are consuming, the characteristics of these publications, and their interactions with these channels. The present research will try to provide answers to these questions, with an exploratory and descriptive study with a sample of five YouTube channels in Spanish and Portuguese aimed at early childhood, starting with the category “Made for Kids” from Social Blade. The results of the study allowed us to discover the characteristics of the contents which have an effect on informal learning, favoring the child’s creativity, the development of abilities and competences of children. The conclusions stress the continued existence of certain risks associated to the inadequate use of YouTube, inviting the reflection on the need to broaden research studies on this subject matter, and the promotion of media and literacy training, through the incorporation of adequate values and behavioral rules. Emphasis is placed on implementing true media literacy in schooling during early childhood to develop the children’s abilities.

Digital literacy training programs (DLTPs) are influential in developing digital skills to help build a more inclusive and participatory ecosystem. This study presents a review of 86 studies related to DLTPs for marginalised populations in developed and developing countries. It aims to understand (a) the profile of DLTPs, (b) the digital competences incorporated in the training curriculum and (c) tangible outcomes of Internet use post-training. The review indicated that developed countries focus more upon developing digital literacy in elderly populations. In contrast, the focus still lies in developing digital literacy among people with low skills and education levels in developing countries. The training curriculums focus mainly on developing information-seeking and communication competencies, besides the basic operations of digital devices. Most of the studies reported an increase in the personal-level outcomes around health, leisure and self-actualisation achieved post-training. This study can help policymakers, practitioners, and educational researchers improve the scope and quality of educational programs and contribute to people's digital empowerment and well-being.

This article aims to formally and technically analyse live remote television broadcasts using a mobile signal, since it is an aspect that we believe will ensure the future viability of television. Methodology: using quantitative and qualitative techniques, we have analysed the live remote connections over a week’s Espejo Público newsmagazine TV programs, identifying an initial variable regarding their duration. A second variable focuses on the audio-visual narrative and its formal characteristics when broadcasting. We have conducted in-depth interviews with the program's director and producer. Results and conclusions: The use of the mobile live remote connections has been progressively adopted over the past ten years, streamlining production, expanding locations, ranging further afield and with most television channels including it in their production systems, particularly in the case of current affairs news programs. Following an analysis of live remote connections, from an informative, journalistic and audio-visual standpoint, we conclude that most of the live connections that take place on Espejo Público comply with the essence of live television, they provide live reporting of the news and are in ‘real-time’.

Every day products are more similar and less differentiated from each other and, with globalization, the competition between them is even greater. It is thanks to advertising that the consumers perceive differences. As a result of this phenomenon, this work aims to study and analyze the underlying scale of values by which a person chooses a car nowadays and the role that advertising plays in that decision. This research analyses the values transmitted in the advertising carried out on the Internet by the automobile industry. For this purpose, a comparison has been made between the values of advertising during 2008 and 2018 with respect to the criteria and values of consumers when making a decision to buy a car and the values that, according to experts, are key in the purchase process. A mixed quantitative-qualitative triangular methodology was used to find out the perception of 300 consumers and 30 experts and the values conveyed by advertising through the content analysis of 672 ads. The results show that there is a relatively clear divergence between the values transmitted by advertising, those demanded by clients and those considered most relevant by the experts .

The Missing Picture (2013) by Rithy Panh is one of the most celebrated non-fiction works in contemporary cinema that attempts to reconstruct traumatic images from the genocide committed by the Khmer Rouge regime. This article analyses the film from a cultural studies’ perspective on memory and trauma using a methodology based on textual analysis. Our research hypothesis is based on the idea that Panh’s non-fiction proposal in the film does not consist so much in searching for an absent image (or images) from the Cambodian genocide, as suggested by its title, as to propose an adequate methodology for witnessing personal trauma that may apply to similar phenomena. To argue in favour of this, we propose an analysis based on three elements: the representations of the perpetrators, the inclusion of fantasy in the film's narrative, and, finally, the creator’s metaphorical apology of the testimony. Beyond verifying the hypothesis, the main conclusion is that the testimony arises as a duty and a necessity in the face of traumatic acts, which can be represented through various cinematographic forms.

This  article  seeks  to  analyse  the  way  in  which  the  Lima  mayoral  candidates  present,  mention,  or  approach  the  issue  of  corruption  in   their   government   plans   presented   to   the   National   Jury   of   Elections.  The  plans  of  the  three  main  candidates  to  the  mayoral  office  of  Lima  will  be  analysed  according  to  opinion  polls  using  the  method  of  content  analysis.  In  the  government  plans  presented  to  the electoral authority, corruption and the relevant topics have been segmented.  It  was  found  that  the  candidates  did  not  place  much  importance  on  the  issue  of  corruption,  even  though  it  is  considered  one  of  the  main  problems  for  Lima’s  populace.  Upon  scrutiny,  a  declarative logic with little real argumentation is observed. There is however  a  certain  recurrence  to  speeches  that  implicitly  disrupt  the  understanding of the tolerance to corruption and, the understanding of the fight against corruption as a war, which invites us to latently reflect  on  the  reason  for  the  recurrence  of  these  speeches,  and  their  use by candidates.
